Asbestos Surveys
Asbestos Management Surveys
Designed to locate the presence and extent of any suspected asbestos containing materials which could be damaged or disturbed during the normal day to day occupancy of the building as well as any general maintenance activities. Any building built before 2000 may contain asbestos and building managers/duty holders have a legal duty under 'The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012' to assess and manage the risks from the presence of asbestos.
The Asbestos Management Survey Report includes a UKAS accredited Lab certificate which details results of sample analysis. The report also includes the Asbestos Register which gives information on the location and condition of the materials and forms a risk assessment which is used for future management of all asbestos materials.
Asbestos Management Reinspection Surveys are required to assess asbestos materials periodically, usually annually; to assess the condition of the material and to review management criteria.
House-buyer Asbestos Survey
Same as a Management Survey but your report includes estimated costs for removal of all asbestos containing materials. Use this information to plan your budget and to negotiate discounts with the vendor!
Asbestos Sampling and Analysis
We can analyse a single item or several items and issue you with a UKAS Accredited Certificate of Analysis.
Refurbishment/Demolition Asbestos Surveys
This type of survey is used to locate asbestos materials before the commencement of any refurbishment or demolition works. The survey is fully intrusive and may involve destructive inspection as necessary in order to gain access to all areas. A Refurbishment/Demolition Asbestos Survey may also be required prior to intrusive maintenance and repair work.
CAR2012 and CDM2007 requires arrangements to be in place to deal with asbestos during construction work including refurbishment and demolition. Project specific information about the presence of asbestos must be made available to designers and contractors by the CDM client.
Refurbishment & Demolition Surveys can be complex and often will be completed in phases; Ideally the building/area should be vacant, detailed plans should be made available where possible. A detailed desktop study should be carried out before the survey commences to ensure adequate information is available before the survey commences.
Asbestos Refurb/Demo Reports are similar to the Asbestos Management Reports but will not usually include detailed risk assessments and management options as the materials identified will be removed. The focus of the report will be on asbestos items found and any further investigation that may be required as well as information on removal.
A detailed Removal Specification can also be supplied which will ensure correct procedures are carried out.
